My family and I just completed a 7 day stay at the Carmichael House. The experience was exceptional. Beginning with the room which was airy, spacious and tastefully appointed. In the morning, a delightful breakfast was served in the sunroom/garden featuring flaky fresh croissants. Our schedule did not allow time to enjoy the refreshing swimming pool, but we were able to spend some quiet moments in the shaded garden.
The owners, Yves and Valerie, were so helpful in making recommendations and suggestions to augment our plans. They were wonderful people to spend time with and my wife and I hope to some day come back for another stay at the Carmichael House.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt im Carmichael House. Das Boutique Hotel wird mit viel Liebe, Engagement und Professionalität geführt. Der Service ist hervorragend, das ganze Team sehr freundlich und darauf bedacht, alle Wünsche zu erfüllen. Frühstück im Garten ist ein Traum, die vielen blühenden Pflanzen, Schmetterlinge und Vögel, wir haben uns unglaublich wohl und wie zuhause gefühlt. Ein riesiges Dankeschön an Yves and Valerie, unsere Gastgeber. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Die besten Grüsse von Andy und Claudia.

Waren für 3 Wochen dort zu Gast und es war hervorragend. Es gibt unterschiedlich große Zimmer, wir hatten das Ruby. Alles ist mit außerordentlicher Liebe zum Detail ausgestattet und wirklich tadellos. Zwei Dinge haben uns besonders beeindruckt: das Frühstück ist hervorragend, kann mich nicht erinnern wo ich mal ein besseres hatte. Man kann einfach was man möchte von der Karte bestellen und alles ist einfach perfekt zubereitet. Und zweitens fanden wir die Gastgeber Valerie und Yves so freundlich und hilfsbereit. Es wurde sich sehr gut um uns gekümmert.

Lieu de charme très bien entretenu, propre et cosi. La chambre est spacieuse et la literie est magnifique. De plus, les propriétaires sont supers accueillants, de très bon conseil et a l'écoute. Petit déjeuner royal et la situation est idéale pour visiter les alentours. En bref, je recommande vivement, vous ne pourrez être que conquis !!

Charming place very well maintained, clean and cosy. The room is spacious, and the bedding is beautiful. Furthermore, the owners are super welcoming, providing excellent advice and are attentive. Royal breakfast and the location is ideal to visit the surroundings. In short, I highly recommend, you can only be overwhelmed!!

When my family and I visited this utopian gem in Cape Town this past October 2025, we were all mightily impressed by its irreverent splendor. The establishment and grounds were the very imagery of paradise. The rooms were clean, beautiful and well-appointed. The food and beverages were remarkably exquisite. The service and hospitality were of concierge standards and any requests were promptly addressed. Of notable mention, alll our luggage failed to arrive with us to the airport so we had none with us upon check-in. Yves took our information and personally took over communications with the airline and courier service seeing to it that our luggage made it to our rooms after eventual arrival to Cape Town. This was our family's first visit to South Africa and we had been traveling for almost 24hrs straight. In spite of our fatigue and disapppointment about the missing bags, the Carmichael House Boutique Hotel offered welcoming and soothing hospitality as though an oasis after arduous travel through a desert.

This was our family's first experience with a bed & breakfast and we were all beyond impressed by Carmichael House. We excitedly look forward to our return visit next year.

Everything was just perfect! Yves and Valerie are the best hosts and the guesthouse offers everything you could possibly ask for. They made us feel at home and made sure that we could make the most of our stay. We will be back for sure!

Carmichael House Boutique Hotel with its beautiful rooms, wonderful atmosphere, lovely garden and service-minded & warm owners was the ”home away from home” during our stay in Cape Town. It always felt great and relaxing coming back from a full day of experiences as well as a wonderful start of a new day with a lovely breakfast either served in the beautiful garden if weather permitted or in the breakfast room. Yves and Valerie generously took time to share their knowledge and advice on things to see, routes to take, what to look out for etc. This was my second time staying at Carmichael House and the whole family was very happy with the accommodation. If we are fortunate enough to come back to Cape Town in the future we would definitely stay at Carmichael House again.
