Our Story

Yves and Valerie moved to Johannesburg in May 1995, where they spent 11 years and were blessed with the arrival of their two lovely daughters, Chloe and Charlotte.
During that period, Yves worked in the airline industry for Air France.
In 2006, to pursue his career, Yves moved back to Northern France with his family and worked at Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris. Valerie worked as a qualified pharmacist (her initial background) in the village where the family was staying, whilst their daughters joined the French school.
But after 4 years in France, Yves and Valerie were longing to come back to South Africa where their heart belonged,
So, in 2010 the family moved back to Cape Town and acquired Carmichael Guesthouse, where Yves and Valerie started a new career in the hospitality business.
The couple had to work extremely hard to learn everything about this industry, and 2 years later they managed to upgrade Carmichael Guesthouse to a 4 Star establishment.
But in March 2019 a devastating fire burnt down their business, home and life...
After 18 months of constant battle, the strong couple recreated Carmichael Guesthouse and transformed it in a magnificent and elegant Boutique Hotel...and a GEM IS BORN!...
